I can't book an appointment online?
On the Home page, there is a green "Book Now" button, click on that, and this will take you to our booking site- where you will see services you want to book, click on the service, and it will then take you to our Calendar to book a day. If there is a day that doesn't suit you - reach out, and we can organise a day that works for both of us.
I'm wanting to get dreads, how long will it take?
Depending on what you are after, some appointments can take up to 8 to 10 hours for a full head of dreads with mid-back length hair.
Some appointments may only take 2 hours. We can split your appointment into multiple sessions if needed.
How long does my hair have to be to get dreads?
We advise a length of 10cm or longer, to get the best results. Keeping in mind dreads will go through a shrinking phase.

I have recently had a fresh dread install, when can i wash my hair?
New or Fresh (Freshies) dreads take time to lokk into place, we suggest waiting 4 to 5 days before your first wash day. Same as after a maintenance, we suggest to wait 4 to 5 days.

How long do I wait to get a maintenance?
This depends on a few factors. How long have you had your dreads? When was your last maintenance?
a general guide is, you can get a maintenance every 3 to 5 months to keep them nice and tidy. If you feel like your dreads are getting the fuzzies more often, have a chat to your Lokktician, you may need a lokking spray or moisturising spray to help in between these maintenances.

I've heard dreads can be dirty, is this true?
Dreads don't have to be "dirty". Stick to a wash day routine, add a moisturising spray and detox days to your routine. Wash days can be once a week or once a fortnight. A moisturising spray, can be used inbetween wash days and maintenances to keep your dreads and scalp fresh. Detoxing your dreads every 6 to 12 months, can help restore your scalps pH balance and also get rid of buildup.

I have nits/lice, do I need to remove my dreads or shave my head?
Short answer - No, you don't need to get rid of your dreads. You can still treat your hair and scalp with lice shampoo to help kill the nits and lice. Adding tea tree oil to your shampoo or moisturising spray can help keep them away.

I have dreads, can I use conditioner?
Dreads are still hair, in short you can still use conditioner. Is it advised? Not really. Conditioners and even some shampoos contain silicone based products, the stuff that makes your hair feel silky smooth, with having dreads this can cause buildup inside your dreads, if not washed out properly. Conditioner can also undo some of the lokking process, so Lokkticians advise not to use conditioners, just a clarifying shampoo will do.

Can i colour my dreads?
Yes you can.
dreads will suck up a lot of colour, if you choose to colour them. You may need extra colour to get your desired look, but do keep in mind, you need to really wash the excess out - if you think you're done, you're not - keep rinsing and more rinsing. The best thing to do is to go to a Lokktician who is a qualified hairdresser. (Not all Lokkticians are hairdressers and not all hairdressers are Lokkticians.)
